The San Diego Zoo is considered one of the largest zoos in the world. They are known for their panda exhibit. Because entry was part of the park hopper pass, we drove down to San Diego to the San Diego Zoo. Aunty Gayle joined us and it was her birthday. I texted my friend Jason, who lived in San Diego to see if he would come along too. He had some free time and said he would join us. I picked him up in downtown San Diego and we got to the zoo right when it opened.
This is one massive zoo. It makes the Honolulu Zoo look like a dwarf. We walked what seemed like hours, eventually we got to see the panda eating. The zookeeper said that panda's sleep a lot. It was a cool experience. Jason and I drank a beer as shown in the picture. I'm not sure what my family got out of it, but I'm not a zoo person.
The best part was the lunch. We ate at a restaurant called Alberts where they had fish. I can't remember the name of the fish, but it was flaky and succulent, possibly sea bass. We sang happy birthday to her surprise. Hope she enjoyed her lunch.
As we exited the zoo, there were all these snakes in an exhibition area which was a cool site to see. I wouldn't want to encounter a snake in the wild, but the contained area is fine with me.
Sea World is known for Shamu, a highly trained killer whale. There's actually more than one killer whale I'd come to find out. The show is probably the most popular event in the park. They also have this beer garden which peaked my interest. Joining us today was Aunty Gayle.
