Pili grass

Pili Grass

I still can't identify pili grass. It just looks like long grass. On Oahu, I don't think it is common, however I have read that is occurs more on the neighbor islands.

Background Information

This native grass is indigenous to Hawaii. Hawaiians had many uses for the grass. A black dye was created. Hawaiians used the grass to construct the roof of their houses, beds, mats, etc. Hawaiians also used the grass for medicinal purposes.
